1. Choose the Right Nail Clippers
When selecting nail clippers, opt for sharp and well-fitting ones. Avoid using rusty or poorly aligned clippers, as they can increase the risk of infection. Since toenails need to bear the weight of the entire body, their protective nail plates are thicker and harder than fingernails. 2. Preparing Nails for Trimming
After taking a shower, nails become softer, making it the ideal time to trim them. If you don't have this habit, you can soak your nails in warm water. Trimming nails that have been softened by warm water requires less effort and results in less nail debris scattering.

3. Proper Nail Trimming Technique
During trimming, it's advised to "straight-cut" the nails while leaving about 1mm of white edge. Avoid pushing the clippers too far into the nail groove to prevent over-trimming. Then, trim off the pointed corners on both sides. You can also use a nail file to smooth the freshly cut and uneven nail edges, giving them a polished look. When dealing with toenails, be cautious not to trim too much along the sides, especially the corners, and leave some nail edge to prevent ingrown nails.

4. Trim Sharp Edges, Round if Necessary
If you notice any rough edges on the sides of the nails or hangnails on your fingers, refrain from pulling them off, as this can cause tearing, injury, and even bacterial infection. Instead, use nail scissors or cuticle scissors for precise trimming, and carefully cut them from the base.

5. Clean After Use
After trimming your nails, clean the nail clippers by rinsing them with water. Avoid using detergents if possible. Dry them with a dedicated cloth or towel, or let them air dry in a well-ventilated area to prevent bacterial growth. Since nail care items are personal hygiene products, avoid sharing them with others.
